|Über uns||The Accademia dell'Arte is a performing arts school in Arezzo, Italy. Housed at Villa Godiola, the Accademia offers study abroad programs in Physical Theatre, Dance and Music, Summer & Winter Intensive Programs and an MFA in Physical Theatre.|
Accademia dell'Arte is conceived as a vibrant community of performing artists, musicians, scholars and students working within an environment dedicated to training, researching and experimenting to realize individual goals and collaborative projects.
The location of the school in Arezzo with its beautiful facilities at Villa Godiola and the proximity of a host of vibrant performing venues, from the Teatro Petrarca–a classical opera house–to the historic piazzas and churches of Tuscany, will enable students to come into close contact with professional actors, directors, musicians, technicians and numerous artists that make up the world of European theatre and performance.
Students will experience a rigorous education that takes place in an atmosphere that encourages individual expression and experimentation. This provides students with the skills and techniques that form the fundamental basis from which excellence and creativity can emerge.
At Accademia dell’Arte we understand that the life of the artist is a lifelong journey and expresses one of the most essential needs of humanity: the need to create. As creativity is a fundamental need in society, we encourage our students to be engaged by creating art that is both for and of the community. Our hopes are that our students will also take in consideration their political and social climate, and that our courses allow them to dream beyond the spiritless rhythms of daily life through their art.
We welcome you both as a student and a collaborator in our community.

Those who come to study at the Accademia will combine an intensive Italian language program and academic studies with a full semester, one year, or summer intensive of high level theatre, music and dance performance training. Our commitment is to approach the notion of artist in a holistic and comprehensive manner, combining rigorous technical training with the aim of achieving an overall synergy of skills that will help to develop students both professionally and personally.
The Master of Fine Arts program at Accademia dell'Arte, offered in partnership with Mississippi University for Women, is the culmination of research and experimentation with diverse yet interrelated European performance trends broadly defined as Physical Theatre. It is based in the Accademia dell’Arte’s campus in Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy. The school has recently developed a 200 square metre facility in the historic centre of Arezzo, complementing the Villa Godiola, our main campus that is a short distance from the city walls.
The program brings together some of the most innovative approaches currently available in Europe. Rooted in the spirit of the Commedia dell'arte, the ethos of the actor-creator, the curriculum provides a high level of technical training for actors, while fully preparing them to devise and create their own performance style. It is contextualized by the ongoing study of history, aesthetics and social theory.
The ultimate goal of the program is to launch students into the world as confident, creative and autonomous artists with a strongly developed aesthetic sensibility that unites the wonder of performance with a genuine search for human meaning.
