Bunches of lavender, stalks of asparagus, patches of oregano, mint, borage, fennel, sun, fields of green and gold...the visual stimulation of our garden and the surrounding Sicilian countryside will surely tantalize your appetite when you are a guest at Case Vecchie, home of Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking School.
Founded by Anna Tasca Lanza in 1989, the cooking school is located within the Tasca d'Almerita family estate, in central Sicily, known for its fine wines. Anna directed the school until 2010, with the help of Albert, her husband, an expert in Sicilian history and extraordinary storytelling. Before she passed away in 2010, Anna shared her knowledge with her daughter, Fabrizia, who today carries on the tradition of weaving culinary art, history, and food grown and picked from the backyard.
The philosophy of the school is not to "invent" new recipes, but to find and share with visitors the richness and diversity of our historical cuisine. An exploration of Sicily through food will lead one to find that, in reality, there are a thousand Sicilies. And when these flavors are combined and tasted together, they make a real culinary adventure.
