Two of the greatest instrumentalists of the young Brazilian generation, guitarist João Luiz and mandolin virtuoso and composer Danilo Brito join forces in a program that goes beyond popular music, recreating with personality works by Brazilian composers, including Villa-Lobos, Nazareth and Jacob do Bandolim. Danilo Brito, a legend of the instrument and guardian of the true art of interpreting choro music, has recorded five albums and has collaborated with many of Brazil's leading musicians. João Luiz, a soloist and chamber musician, has toured extensively in the U.S. and recorded a dozen albums and was nominated for a 2016 Latin Grammy for his work with the acclaimed Brasil Guitar Duo. Great Performances is supported in part by the Dorothy MacKenzie Price Fund and Kingston Healthcare.
This is a ticketed event and will take place in the GlasSalon.
