|Über uns||International Summer School of Bergamo Landscape and Garden Institute 12 - 22 september 2018 Bergamo | 5rd-edition|
The Study Centre, through its workshops, addresses the issues of contemporary urban landscape design with a multidisciplinary and international approach, through which students and young professionals from all over the world and from different disciplines (architects, designers, artists, landscape architects, agronomists, botanists, video makers and photographers) are called on to collaborate in the development of ideas, in the construction of the strategies of the project, in the representation of the plans and in the investigation of the techniques to be used. The educational approach is “learning by doing”. The design of the contemporary public spaces would not be possible without the ability to work as a group, a prelude to every possible action, where the expertise of each individual contributes to the solution of specific problems, with respect to the multiplicity of issues to be addressed, on several levels of complexity, through different methodologies.
The teaching staff consists of professionals of international standing, selected according to the themes of the project, which deal with the sites of public spaces based on a manifold, composite vision.
Bergamo expresses, in the open places of Città Alta – the Upper City – the heart of an ancient and contemporary strategy for public spaces. It is in these culturally rich places that the Study Centre, and its Summer School, renew the manifesto of public spaces by redesigning the historic squares of Bergamo, Piazza Vecchia and Piazza Mascheroni, through ephemeral environmental installations.
The combination of the Summer School and International Meeting – I Maestri del Paesaggio - generates a unique environmental event for Italy. Each year in September the culture of the landscape promotes its protagonists in the contemporary solutions of the installations featured in Bergamo Alta, experienced by a multitude of “citizen-viewers” through events, conferences and landscape “actions”.
The Summer School, from the 9th to the 20th September in Bergamo, will design the installation of Piazza Vecchia and Piazza Mascheroni to be created in 2016 for I Maestri del Paesaggio. The Summer School is multidisciplinary and international, for students and young professionals of different disciplines (agronomists – botanists –landscape architects – artists – architects – designers). The visiting professors in 2015 are Stefan Tischer and Annacaterina Piras.
