The South Puget Sound office of Lutheran Community Services offers the following programs:
Home Care Program provides quality in-home assistance with non-medical personal care, companionship, respite care and light housekeeping services. A program supervisor completes a personal needs assessment, develops a care plan, and assists with public funding qualifications. Trained and compassionate staff members are available for hourly and live-in services.
Meals on Wheels provides home delivered frozen meals to individuals in the Tacoma and Puyallup area that are homebound and/or unable to shop or cook for themselves. There are no income requirements or age limits; only that they are homebound and unable to shop or cook for themselves.
Senior Companion Program is a volunteer program that matches low income elderly and disabled seniors in Pierce County, to senior volunteers who provide transportation, companionship and respite care.
Senior Media Services has been serving the information needs of seniors in Pierce County for over 30 years, with two unique publications:
“Senior Scene” is a newspaper offering news, feature articles, personal profiles, and opinion pieces for readers age 55 or older. In addition, Senior Scene is available online.
The “Where To Turn” directory is an indispensable resource for government and private providers of senior services in the South Puget Sound area and beyond.
Support U™ partners with faith communities, agencies and businesses to make life better for caregivers by reducing caregiver burnout and those who try to do it all alone. Practical care giving information is presented in accessible short classes, such as: “Dementia, Chronic Illness & The Family,” “Family Dynamics & Communication,” and “Self Care For the Caregiver.”
