Polytech Panther Football
Head Coach Kevin Smith
We believe our student athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators should exhibit good sportsmanship and positive school spirit at all times. Respect for officials, coaches, players, and host facilities are essential for raising the standards of good sportsmanship. Players should politely address officials during competition and thank them for their performance, regardless of agreement with calls. Spectators should regard the playing of the game as an art and appreciate and enjoy it as such.
We believe in encouraging all students to enrich their lives through athletics. This includes but not limited to participation on sports teams, managing, broadcasting, keeping statistics, student athletic trainers, mascots, fans, and all other positive support for athletics.
We believe our student athletes are just that: students first and athletes second. Communication between coaches, teachers, parents, and athletes is vital for achieving this goal.
We believe our junior varsity programs should stress talent identification, development of fundamentals, concepts of team work, enjoyment, sportsmanship, and positive encouragement.
We believe varsity level sports should be competitive, but never compromise the moral integrity of the student athlete and the athletic program.
We believe that student athletes should have an avenue to openly voice their opinions to a coach without repercussions. If the student athlete feels the issue is not resolved they should then arrange a meeting with the athletic director.
We believe in the spirit and regulations of Title IX.
We believe that hazing is inappropriate behavior and will not be tolerated.
