Tomato’s started in the early-1990s and has become an iconic theme restaurant in the city. The restaurant is inspired by the fabulous 1950s and ‘60s in the United States of America, the dream decades that produced musicians in all genres like country, rock 'n roll, rhythm and blues, love songs, jazz and calypso, the early years of rock, pop and soul, the hula hoop king Elvis Presley, celebrities like James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball, the period of marvellous Hollywood movies like the spectacular Ten Commandments, the Rock Hudson – Doris Day entertainers and Laurel & Hardy comedies, famous Broadway musicals great sports personalities like Muhammad Ali, the Beatles and the Doors, The restaurant is designed like an American Diner of the period, with checkered floors, neon signs, chrome and stainless steel, counter stools facing a mocktails bar and red and black upholstered booths. The restaurant has posters, memorabilia and props to go with the 1950s and ‘60s Americana theme.
