|About||The Al Hassan Workers' Center offers recreational opportunities, skills training, and other supports to factory workers in Northern Jordan.|
There are an estimated 40,000 workers in Jordan’s garment industry. Roughly 80% of these workers are foreign, traveling to Jordan from primarily South Asian countries. Migrant workers often face communication barriers that leave them vulnerable to exploitation. Many experience deep emotional stress as they struggle to adjust to a new environment away from their families.
Established in 2012, the Workers’ Center Association is a charitable membership organization dedicated to improving quality of life and providing services for workers in Jordan’s garment industry. The association governs the Al-Hassan Workers’ Center, located in Al-Hassan Industrial Zone near Irbid/Ramtha. The first of its kind in Jordan, the Al-Hassan Workers’ Center is committed to:
1) Developing and providing training courses and seminars for workers to improve their job and life skills
2) Providing a social forum and organizing entertainment activities
3) Improving worker well-being by providing general awareness on issues such as humanitarian, health, psychological, and practical; and
4) Offering accessible services and basic commodities at affordable costs for workers.
