Mission The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's mission is, working with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

The Alaska Marine Mammals Management office is a branch of the Alaska Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, located in Anchorage, Alaska. We are responsible for management and research on polar bears, northern sea otters, and Pacific walruses. The other species of marine mammals found in U.S. waters, except manatees, are managed by the National Marine Fisheries Service.
