About Angels in Africa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to aiding women and children in Africa
Description Angels in Africa (AIA) is a registered 501(c)(3) that is dedicated to empowering women in Africa. In particular, our work is focused on improving the lives of rural women and children in the Masai Mara region of Kenya. AIA established a “Mamas Village” in 2007 which serves as a safe haven to the most marginalized females of the Masai community and their children. In an effort to make the Mama’s Village sustainable, AIA started a cow project, a chicken project, a beekeeping project and a gardening project there. The projects are run by the women of this village and they provide these women with both a source of food and a source of income. AIA also initiated and sponsored a sanitation project in the Mama’s village, installing proper waste receptacles. In conjunction with its work in the “Mama’s Village,” AIA sponsors a local school called Emurutoto Primary School. Currently, Angels in Africa is in the process of building a dining hall and community center complex on Emurototo Primary School property. This new complex, which will be unveiled in July of 2011, will serve both the students of the primary school as well as the members of the surrounding communities. In addition to the aforementioned projects, AIA is working to bring clean water to both the Mamas Village and the primary school community. There is so much to be done in the Mara but AIA is making substantial progress.
