|About||ARCADE is a Seattle-based nonprofit that creates opportunities – in print, online, in the community – for sharing ideas about design.|
ARCADE’s mission is to incite dialogue about design and the built environment; our goal is to inspire designers, creative professionals and design enthusiasts to reconsider how design impacts the world around us and, in turn, instigate positive change.
ARCADE fulfills its mission through its award-winning magazine; events, educational lectures, panel discussions, salons; and web presence, which includes a weekly e-newsletter of Northwest design happenings, an evolving website, which includes a calendar of Northwest design events, and growing social media community.
ARCADE is a Seattle-based nonprofit that creates opportunities – in print, online, in the community – for sharing ideas about design, culture and the built environment. We publish a quarterly magazine; host events and provide a curated calendar of Northwest design and art happenings. Aiming to strengthen connection between various creative groups and design disciplines, we invite all to participate and collectively add to the greater whole.
Founded in 1982 by a group of recent architecture-school graduates, ARCADE now includes two staff people, a dedicated board of trustees, and a cadre of generous and enthusiastic committee members and volunteers.
We believe daring, interdisciplinary discussions of design can enact positive change and enrich our world. Looking to find and explore the intersections of design, art and culture, we bring together voices from multiple design disciplines – architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, industrial design, graphic design, etc. – and the arts community.
Dedicated to providing a Northwest perspective, we present insight on and review notable regional topics. We also work with contributors from around the world, always examining how what we do in the Northwest fits into the larger picture.
