APT DC is a not-for-profit educational association founded in 1980 to serve the needs of preservationist in the greater Washington DC metro area. APT DC promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge concerning the conservation of historic resources and the application of preservation technology. We publish 10 newsletters per year, highlighting upcoming events, reviewing recent tours and lectures, and promoting exchanges with other local groups with similar interests. APT DC is a local chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International. APTI was founded in 1968 to disseminate information on historic building materials and systems and to promote development of preservation technology. APTI is recognized for its technical quarterly publication The Bulletin, and its newsletter, The Communique.
