Welcome to the new Assumption Parish & St. Anthony Mission Church Facebook page. This is a place for current parishioners of both churches to share photos and stories about various parish events. It is also the place to share your memories. Enjoy!
Assumption Parish is a culturally rich Catholic community whose mission is to worship and pray, to grow in faith and discipleship, and to serve those who are in need. We respect the traditions of the past and are open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we move into the future.
Assumption of the BVM Parish on Potters Avenue in Providence, RI was founded in 1870. The current church was completed in 1912. St. Anthony's Parish on Plainfield Street in Providence was founded in 1900. The first Mass celebrated in the still uncompleted church was on Christmas Day 1900. This is the building that is still in use today. Both parishes have rich and interesting histories. St. Anthony's became a mission church of Assumption Parish on July 1, 2010.
