Founded in 1984, The general purposes and objectives of ABDA are:
To better inform ourselves and to advocate with and for the community about the responsibilities and rights of black Deaf/Hard of Hearing citizens.
To identify, examine, and disseminate information related to the impact of social economic, educational, health, political, and religious issues through the medium of panels, lectures, and workshops.
To maintain a close working relationship with other service providers and organizations serving the Deaf/Hard of Hearing communities for the betterment of ADBA.
