Mission Providing exceptional client service is the central goal of our firm. Description

Founded by Jay W. Barnes III, in 1985, Barnes Architects quickly established a reputation for quality design and exceptional client service. Carl Gromatzky and Thomas Kosarek joined in 1990, expanding the firm's capacity to provide a wide range of architectural services. The following years brought larger, more prominent projects, culminating with a 1999 Firm of the Year Award from the Austin Chapter is the AIA.

An early adopter of sustainable design principals, the firm joined the Austin Energy Green Building program in 2000. The following year, the name of the firm was changed to Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects. Focused on large-scale civic, academic, and master planning projects, the firm has also gained a reputation for facilitation highly-collaborative stakeholder participation projects. BGKA is registered with the State of Texas as a HUB firm and with the City of Austin as a Minority-Owned Business Enterprise. BGKA is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
