The Beekeepers Association of Southern California has been around since 1980, with members from all over Southern California, including: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Our members range from professional beekeepers to beginners and hobbyists with only a few hives, to interested folks with no hives at all.
What does BASC do? At our monthly meetings we have guest speakers, topical discussions, demonstrations, videos, etc., to help our members keep up on the latest developments in beekeeping, and address questions or problems they may have. The meetings also allow our members to network, swap information, mentor new beekeepers, and plan occasional field trips. One of our goals is to educate the public about bees, beekeeping, and the wonderful products made by the bees. The beneficial aspects of honey to human health as well as the pollination essential to our world food supply has brought beekeeping back into the spotlight. Every year since 1997, we have presented a popular exhibit at the Los Angeles County Fair on “Bees and Honey” jointly with other beekeepers associations.
