Belmont Farm is a 26 acre horse farm located in Southeast Athens. The farm is approximately 20 minutes from the main UGA campus and a short 8 minutes from the new vet school.
Belmont Farm is a co-op boarding farm. Co-op boarding is a highly financially appealing method of horse boarding that provides a great opportunity to ensure your horse is taken care of exactly as you desire. A very ideal situation for hands on horse owners or people with easy keepers requiring nothing more than good grass to eat. All horse care is the responsibility of the boarder. Boarders can choose to perform all necessary care including but not limited to feeding, watering, stall mucking, grooming, blanketing, and arranging farrier and veterinary care by themselves to work out a rotation schedule with other boarders. Belmont Farm provides pasture room, a stall, stall shavings, and access to water sources. Cost of board is $150 per month.
Belmont Farm was formerly a dairy farm that has since been converted to accommodate horses. Belmont Farm hosted the UGA Equestrian Team in the mid 1990's. Since then, the farm has been home to a variety of boarders from all disciplines. The antique diary barn gives this farm a quaint, rustic feeling and an escape from the busyness of life. The barn features 14 stalls with 6 stalls in the interior of the barn, 4 stalls with outside entry on the right side of the barn, and 4 stalls in an external covered hallway on the left side of the barn. A spacious tack room with multiple saddle racks and bridle holders as well as a separate feed room area is available for boarder storage. The farm features 7 large pastures with ample grass and room to roam. Two pastures reserved for horses who stay out 24-7 feature large run in sheds that provide great shelter from bad weather.
