Beyond DV Ltd is a charity that delivers programs to support women and children as they rebuild their lives after Domestic Violence.
|Mission||Beyond DV aims to deliver specific educational programs and support services to women and children who have survived Domestic Violence thus empowering them to reclaim their lives.|
Beyond DV Ltd was founded after my own daughter was involved in a Domestic Violence incident early in 2017.
Accompanying my daughter to court on numerous occasions, witnessing the number of women going through the same traumatic process as my daughter, had a profound impact on me.
This ignited a desire to use my existing skills, expertise and contacts to help women and children who have been affected by Domestic Violence.
Beyond DV is the provider of two distinct programs- one focussing on children, the other on women.
BRIGHT START- helps children transition into new schools when relocating from a domestic violence situation by providing support for the family through the enrolment process, purchase of school items required and ongoing support between the school and family once the child has started. We work closely with the Department of Education & Training to ensure that children who have suffered trauma from domestic violence are able to continue their education in the most supportive environment possible.
TIME OUT- women are provided with opportunities to regain their self-confidence and work towards realising their full potential. Working with the individual DV refuges, women are taken for a day out, away from the current stresses in their lives, to engage with other DV survivors, as well as members of the community who are there to offer support.
After a makeover (hair, makeup, clothing), women are then transported to a private dining room in one of Brisbane's beautiful restaurants, where they will be met by representatives from DV support organisations and charities, government representatives, supporters/sponsors of Beyond DV and local celebrities. Our goal is for these women to have an enjoyable experience (that many of us would take for granted) and come away with a renewed sense of optimism for the possibilities of their future lives, as well as a strong sense that they are not alone- the community is there to support them.
