|About||Pregnancy and labor support|
There is a belief within the doula culture that our duty in the birthing room is to "Hold the space". To me, this means creating a peaceful and supportive environment for the laboring mother and her family. This entails different things for different people. To doula is to commit yourself whole heartedly to the family you assist. There is no higher honor than being part of a new life entering the world.
I am in the process of being birth doula certified through Childbirth International. I have attended seven births, each one a beautiful and unique experience. I have been a breastfeeding mentor for 5 years and nursed all three of my children, and will be pursuing a lactation consultant certification.
Included in the birth doula package: at least two one hour in person visits prior to birth, one or two hour long postpartum visits, assistance with a birth plan, continuous labor support from the moment you call me up to two hours postpartum, a written birth story, nursing support, and access to my lending library which contains many childbirth, parenting, and breastfeeding books.
