Bootstrap Company emerged at a time when the country was experiencing ridiculously high levels of unemployment. The government promoted self-employment by introducing Local Enterprise Agencies, a way to link up local government and entrepreneurs. Up sprang Bootstrap!
Bootstrap's activities developed to working with unemployed residents in Hackney, Lambeth and Camden estates. These estate services offered residents advice and information about jobs and training opportunities.
In the nineties Bootstrap acquired property in Dalston known as The Print House - where catalogues, crayons and pencils used to be made. It seems artistry was laid in the foundations of the building! The Print House became a base for training and employment programmes whilst renting out workspaces for small companies and individuals. This remains the core business of the building to this day.
In recent years, we gave the building a massive makeover and are now home to some of the most innovative and renowned talent in creative industries and social enterprises.
We've come a long way and are very proud of the companies in our building!!!
