The Brazilian Beat Congress was the first non-profit event in Canada that aimed to promote Brazilian dance, unify and showcase the work of Brazilian dance professionals from Toronto and other parts of the country.
Brazil Dance World organized this four-day event for three consecutive years (2011-2013) and hosted several artists from Brazil including Renata Peçanha, Jorge Peres, Kadu Vieira, Larissa Thayane, Bamberg Dance Company, Cabruera Brasil Dance Company, and Marcelo Galvão. Several local professionals and from other parts of the country and U.S. have also joined this celebration of Brazilian culture to teach, perform, educate and mutual learning.
The Congress is open to anyone who would like to learn and experience the different styles of Brazilian Dance. Brazilian Beat focuses on the Brazilian Social dance styles, and offers workshops given by world renowned instructors and nightly breathtaking performances from international Brazilian dance companies in Samba no Pé, Samba Reggae, Samba de Gafieira, Zouk, Lambada, Forró, Brazilian Bolero, Afro-Brazilian, Afoxé and Capoeira.
