|About||The Brockville & District Horticultural Society was formed in 1905. Our floral emblem is the Japanese iris. We are in District 3 of the Ontario Horticultural Association (Frontenac, Hastings, Leeds, Lennox & Addington, Prince Edward counties).|
To hold meetings for instruction and discussion on subjects connected with the theory and practice of horticulture to stimulate an interest in horticulture.
To encourage the planting of trees, shrubs, and flowers on public and private grounds.
To promote balcony and community gardening and outdoor beautification.
To interest youth and others in the practice/study of horticulture by holding meetings, field trips, contests, competitions and exhibitions related to horticulture.
To distribute seeds, plants, bulbs, flowers, trees and shrubs.
To promote the protection of the environment.
To promote the circulation of horticultural information through any media.
|Awards||Every year the Society recognizes the achievements of our members by presenting special awards: People's Choice - Art in Bloom; People's Choice - Floral Design; People's Choice - Members' Garden Tour; Photography Award; Volunteer of the Year; Junior Gardener Award (future).|
