Having trained as a farrier, legendary saddle maker Frederic Butet's career started by chance when he was employed by a saddlery. He stayed for 10 years starting out in the workshop before moving into sales. In 1985, he decided to start his own workshop in Saumur, France. The first saddle was exported in 1986 and Butet saddles are today renowned world wide for offering advanced design capabilities combined with the finest materials and top European craftsmanship.
All saddles are handcrafted in a small 'state of the art' workshop in Saumur, France using the very highest quality leathers and materials.
Saddles are fully customised to fit you and your horse. With over 90 design options the Butet saddle is the most fully customisable saddle on the market today.
Butet is the choice of many top riders, including Andrew Nicholson (NZ), Eric Lamaze (CAN), Michael Whitaker (UK), Patrice Delaveau (FRA), Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP), Albert Voorn (NED) and Malin Baryard-Johnson (SWE) to name a few.
