In 1972, the Campbellton Rotary Club was inspired to study the feasibility of a senior citizens’ home with long-term nursing care. This concluded with the formation of a non-profit organization known as the Campbellton Nursing Home, Inc. in 1974.
The proposed site, known as Andersonville (Rabbit-town), was acquired from the New Brunswick Housing Corporation along with the accompanying street, donated by City of Campbellton.

This new concept was promptly and fittingly dubbed “The Village”.
The official opening of the 50-unit apartment tower and 50-bed nursing home took place on November 19th, 1977.
Following this, the Board of Directors immediately began talks with the Department of Health for an additional 50 nursing beds to meet the needs of the community. The 50-bed expansion of “The Village” was completed by April 1st, 1984.
