|About||Cape Clear Island is a small rugged island off the coast of West Cork, Ireland. It boasts overwhelming scenery as well as tradition in transition, encompassing everything from standing stones to high speed internet!|
For a viable diverse island community and
against commercialisation of our lives and our home
We want to paint a complete picture of our island as much as possible, not just aspects of it.
Our island is small and our community is tiny and diverse.
We need to establish and maintain links with people and organisations on the outside who would need to get a realistic impression of an Irish offshore island in our day and who may feel that they can contribute to it.
The island toursim sector is called to take an interest in this site and use it to inform such people of their facilities. Representatives from the sectors not directly involved in tourism are called upon to help paint the picture of our island that presents a realistic changing image of Oileán Chléire.
Every friend (who clicked 'like') can write on the wall. Please stay factual and polite.
We have farmers and fishermen and others who work quietly without coming into direct contact with visitors. Their contribution to the attractiveness of Oileán Chléire is vital.
They provide the human and manmade background for the rugged scenery that, on its own, makes up less than half the experience any visitor can get.
Follow this page all year round to keep up to date with events and life in Oileán Chléire. Feel free to communicate with us about the many different aspects and issues that come up - we will all benefit from it!
