|About||Established in 2006, we bring music to the people, and people to the music. We produced, promoted, and raged our first event, a Toys for Tots benefit featuring The Mantras and Dead End Parking in December 2006. Since that first benefit we've worked with national and international artists such as Umphrey's McGee, The Disco Biscuits, The Mantras, Dark Star Orchestra, Garaj Mahal, Perpetual Groove, New Monsoon, EOTO, PBS, Col. Bruce Hampton; as well as local, regional, and first time touring acts such as Incognito Mosquito, The New Familiars, Yesterday's Gravy, Sci Fi, The Lee Boys, Barrel House Mamas, Roots of Creation, SeepeopleS, and many more...|
|Mission||To culminate the efforts of original musicians, fans, and music professionals in the Carolinas and beyond. In too many facets of the music industry there is a gap in connectivity that inhibits the opportunity for even the most gifted of musicians to passionately pursue their dreams. By not recognizing and supporting these artists, a community stifles the development and growth of its music scene as a whole. Through organized support networks and grass-roots promotion, we facilitate unique collaborations between our music scene and our community, in an effort to expand individual accomplishments into community gains and incubate a blossoming musical environment, starting with Charlotte, North Carolina, we have expanded throughout both North and South Carolina. By creating unprecedented incentive for music-goers, bands, club owners, as well as community organizations to participate in the live music experience, we explore the benefits that an active and harmonious music scene can have on society.. |Founded||Our first event was Christmas Jam 2006. The Mantras, Dead End Parking... the rest has been a blur|
Our community is comprised of musicians, bands, venues, promoters, production staff, photographers, archivists, and most importantly the fans who come to the shows. Our charitable work has benefited many in our music community as well as various local charities like Toys for Tots, and Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
In an effort to grow as a community, while enjoying the camaraderie found at music & arts festivals, CLMS members are often performing, producing, promoting, and/or volunteering at events like AmJam, Echo Project, Trinumeral, Camp Bisco, All Good, Floydfest, The GETDOWN, Mantra Bash, Langerado, Mtn. Sports Festival and others... We are committed to our common passion for live music in the Carolinas.
At carolinalivemusic.net, members receive announcements about free or greatly discounted tickets to shows and festivals around the Carolinas as well as special promotions reserved only for Society members and bands that support the efforts of CLMS. After the shows, CLMS members download and listen to recordings of the shows, many of which are exclusive releases for CLMS members only. We discuss music news, browse photos, and download concerts recorded by CLMS archivists. Our photo galleries are available for everyone to enjoy the work of Society photographers Brad Kuntz Vikas Nambir, Kristen Babcock and other contributors. As with all CLMS ventures, our online community is non-commercial and maintained entirely by volunteers and donations from the community. With that being said, registration at carolinalivemusic.net is always free with over 500 hundred members taking advantage of the live music resources found at our website, spending countless hours downloading, listening, and discussing past and upcoming CLMS events.
