Carwan started as the first Contemporary Design gallery in the region with the mission of internationalizing design in the Middle East. Founded by the architects Pascale Wakim and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte in 2010, the gallery, established in Beirut, exhibits bespoke projects and limited-edition objects focusing on special commissions to internationally renowned architects and designers.
The gallery showcases its collections at most prestigious Art and Design fairs in Dubai, Basel, London, New York and Miami and has curated design exhibitions in various museums and art centers. Carwan directors give a special importance on developing strong collaborations with cultural organizations, institutions and specialized press, with partners such as the Beirut National Museum, the Katara Art Center in Doha, Villa Noailles in France, Beirut Art Center, CCMC Mexico City, Alaan Artspace Riyadh, Design Days Dubai, Design Miami/, Collective Fair, FABRICA, Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, Iznik Foundation and A.M. Qattan Foundation.
The founders also have an expertise as design consultants, providing services to hotel groups, architecture studios, brands and art consulting offices.
