|About||Lively clothing is created by combining unexpected prints & splashes of vibrant color. Made completely out of rescued textiles in Butte, MT.|
Catahoula is a story about patches. My whole life has been patches, very different distinct patches. I've done many different things from artisan bread baker to hydrologic technician to dental hygienist. I've earned a BS in Geological Engineering and then an AAS Dental Hygiene while my dream is to spend my time surrounded in mismatched fabrics creating garments that make people feel special. Each Catahoula Thread is unique. Most of the time I'm not even sure exactly what the finished product will look like. Trying to come up with a brand or name that captures the essence of using a variety of tossed out materials, I considered "1/1" because there is only 1/1 available, or "Gneiss Clothing" because each piece represents a metamorphosis, or "ReFab Threads" because that could mean re-fabricated or re-fabulous. A Catahoula is a type of dog or curr that is a specific mix which gives their appearance a huge variety. Just like Catahoula Threads, each one unique, composed of patches and always ready for adventure.
I'm not trying to compete with big-box stores. I'm creating wearable art for those who may be interested in that sort of thing. Until recently I've only indulged in my love affair for fabric each year during October. Creating Halloween costumes for 2 little boys has been an adventure in which I enjoyed the pleasure of making a lego, tiger, surfer shark, hammerhead shark, and Mike Yazoski.
