I use counseling methods that are empirical, creative, and thoughtful. While I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy and insight-based methods, I also use art, bibliotherapy, journaling, and poetry to help clients who are creatively minded. I often use music with teens to enter their world and learn more about them. I have worked with adolescents and adults seeking help with anger, anxiety, chronic illness, depression, grief and loss, OCD, PTSD, sexual abuse, sexual assault, stress, and other various difficulties. I have worked in a group practice as well as a private psychiatric hospital and I find it an absolute joy and privilege to help clients work toward growth and change. I have been married for over twenty-five years and I have two young adult children. I enjoy movies, being outdoors, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Both of my children were diagnosed with Celiac Disease and one of my children experienced a chronic illness and chronic pain. As a result, I understand the implications of long-term chronic illness and pain on the individual and their loved ones.
I welcome the opportunity to help you make the changes you desire. You may find that you agree with one of my clients who said, "Counseling is the best investment I ever made".
