I am a proud honor-roll student at Madison Park Academy in Oakland California! My name is Zion Garcia I'm 16 years old and I am a Junior in high school. I was recently awarded a scholarship through a non-profit organization named Summer Search. Through that scholarship I traveled with a company called, NOLS. This 30 day outdoor course taught me leadership and team-building skills, as well as strengthening my entrepreneurial . A month in the wilderness gave me the opportunity to think and create this wonderful idea for students across the world.
My vision is called, "CHANGE FOR A $100". CHANGE FOR A $100 is a paid tutoring program for honor-roll students. In this program honor-roll students will tutor other students who are struggling to achieve the honor-roll status. Not only will the tutors be reimbursed for their time, but the those struggling students will earn a check of appreciation for specific academic achievements. My mission is to increase the amount of inner-city students earning a 4.0 grade point average.
This Non-profit organization will be a youth employment program and also a way to change students academic records.
