To increase the capacity of schools to provide rigorous, relevant social science instruction and civic learning opportunities including service learning, student voice, and civics instruction with an emphasis on active, engaged participation in our democracy.
SSCE’s social media mission is to:
create a space for our community to connect, learn, and share

capture and share powerful moments in social science and civic engagement.
The CPS Department of Social Science and Civics Engagement (SSCE) encourages users to interact with each other in a respectful and meaningful manner way on the SSCE wall and within the comment threads of SSCE content. When posting to SSCE social media pages on the Internet, please keep in mind that your name and photo or image appear next to your comments and are publicly visible to the visitors to the page.
The SSCE Facebook page is nonpartisan and rooted in the belief that the participation and promotion of civil discourse is a necessary act for promoting and engaging in a healthy democracy. That said, the resources, opinions, and materials shared do not necessarily reflect the views and values of SSCE or Chicago Public Schools. SSCE reserves the right to delete user comments that promote commercial ventures or that do not comply with other CPS District, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram policies and applicable State and Federal laws. Posts that are off-topic, abusive, contain profanity, are threatening in tone or devolve into personal attacks will be deleted. Account administrators reserve the right to review all comments and posted materials and remove such materials for any reason. All such comments made by social media users reflect the opinions of the users and not necessarily those of SSCE. Please be advised that any matters posted on SSCE web pages are a matter of public record, and will be retained, even if deleted for violation of District policies.
