The Chuckanut 50k race is celebrating its 25th event on March 18, 2017. The community-driven, ultra-endurance trail race is based in Fairhaven, WA, and often called one of the most competitive races in the region. The stunning course is suited to all levels of athlete, from novice to most experienced. The 25th anniversary event has been named a selection race for the 2017 IAU Trail World Championships in Badia Prataglia, Italy, for both Team USA and Team Canada.
In 2017, the course starts and finishes in Fairhaven Park and utilizes the Interurban Trail to access the beautiful single-track trails of Chuckanut Mountain. Runners climb to the ridge, catch a glimpse of Mt Baker (on a clear day), descend near Lost Lake and revel in the last climb up little Chinscraper. The Interurban awaits, and runners see what turnover they have left in their return to the festivities in Fairhaven Park.
Registration for the 25th anniversary edition of the Chuckanut 50k begins on December 1, 2016 at ultrasignup.com and is limited to 500 runners.
