The Colorado Ocean Coalition (COCO) is creating a movement to protect oceans from a mile high by uniting people from all over the world to engage in ocean advocacy. Why? "The ocean is closer than you think."
MOVING MOUNTAINS TO SAVE OCEAN
|Mission||The mission of the Colorado Ocean Coalition is to create, unite and empower a Colorado coalition with shared values, goals and actions to promote healthy oceans through education and community engagement.|
Until now, there has never been a unified voice for ocean protection in the Mountain States. The mission of the Colorado Ocean Coalition is to create, unite and empower a Colorado coalition with shared values, goals and actions to promote healthy oceans through education and community engagement. We are doing this by engaging scientists, activists, businesses and ocean supporters to address current threats which include:
Watershed Protection and Health
Marine Protected Areas
Climate Change and Ocean Acidification
Special species focus (whales, sharks, tuna, turtles, etc.)
US National Ocean Policy
Join us to figure out how we can help the ocean from a mile high! You don't have to see the ocean to protect it.

|Awards||In recognition of COCO's inaugural Making Waves in Colorado, The Mayor of Boulder, proclaimed November 13, 2011 to be Boulder's first Ocean Awareness Day.|
Changing the way we take care of our oceans happens one person at a time. We sponsor a monthly Blue Drinks where we meet people and share our interest and projects.
