|About||We're conducting research to understand the comic con sector in North America.|
The Comic Cons Research Project is a partnership of Carleton University, Ryerson University, the University of Calgary, the Ottawa Geek Market, and the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. It is supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and by contributions from our partners.
Over the next three years, we will conduct a range of research activities to better understand comic cons, comic art festivals, and related fandom events in North America: How are they organized? How do they negotiate the needs of their various publics and stakeholders? And what are their contributions to the creative economy and the life of the cities that host them?
