|About||We are committed to providing a safe place for abandoned, neglected and abused animals in the Cotswolds and promoting animal welfare.|
|Mission||The new Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home will be a centre of excellence. Not only will it allow us to triple the number of animals we can currently assist but it will also give us the facilities and space we need to provide those animals with the very best start on their journey to a new life - and it will go on doing so, not just for today and tomorrow but for generations to come.|
Nationally, convictions for animal abuse and cruelty have risen by over 34% during the last two years. In the UK, more than thirty animals a day are given up by their owners due to the economic downturn – that’s an increase of 57% in the last seven years. It is estimated that across the UK one pet an hour is euthanized due to a lack of facilities to house them until they can be re-homed - however, the true figure is likely to much higher due to inconsistent record keeping.
At the present time we are able to help, on average, 250 animals per year across the Cotswolds area. However it is estimated that there are approximately 2,000 animals who are neglected, abused or abandoned within the region. With our existing facilities and resources we could not hope to meet this level of demand - meaning that many animals will continue to live lives filled with abuse, neglect and illness.
To address this needless suffering the Trustees undertook a review of its current structure, facilities and services to decide how best meet this rising need. The only way to accommodate the increasing numbers of animals who need our help is the establishment of a new centre - The Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home.
All funds donated will be used for the purposes indicated. If for any unforeseen reason we are unable to complete the build or there are surplus funds, we will use the donations for the benefit of the CDCH.
We are entirely dependent on the generous support of the public and local community in order to achieve are aim of improved animal welfare throughout the Cotswolds. To see how you can and become part of the solution visit our website http://www.cotswoldsdogsandcatshome.org.uk/
