|About||Aaron Paquette is a candidate for Ward 4 in the Edmonton municipal election on October 16, 2017.|
Councillor for Ward 4, City of Edmonton.
Aaron Paquette was elected to Edmonton City Council on October 16, 2017.
A lifelong Edmontonian and a parent raising his family in Ward 4, Aaron understands the importance of building strong communities and making sure that Northeast Edmonton isn’t left behind as our city grows.
Aaron chose to raise his family in the northeast because its working families form the backbone of our city. It's home to a diverse set of Edmontonians made up of many cultures and origins that exemplify a growing Edmonton.
Commitment to community and families are values that Aaron carries through his professional career and his volunteerism. Like many Edmontonians, Aaron is active in his local community league and coaches youth soccer.
As an award winning Indigenous artist and author, Aaron is constantly giving back to his community professionally. His art can be seen in museums, schools, hospitals and LRT stations across Edmonton. His novel Lightfinder is taught in schools, universities and colleges across Canada. He also works close to home. At schools like Lago Lindo and Homesteader, Aaron collaborated with local students on the schools' murals.
Aaron is passionate about helping young people succeed. He has worked with Alberta Education, various school boards and teachers associations to teach not only art, but also to develop curriculum and increase student academic achievement. In 2012 he created an education conference to lay new ground for more effective approaches to student and teacher learning environments.
Aaron lives in Cy Becker with his wife Clarice and their four children.
