"To be the best you can be"
We aim to create a caring community and environment, setting out to meet the needs of the studentd and to encourage them to care for others, through understanding and respect, by creating a safe atmosphere in which the students feel happy and secure, and establishing links with parents, carers and the wider community.
Students are expected to try their best at all times and to take pride in their work. Good manners and good behaviour are encouraged at all times. We provide a wide range of experiences in order to stimulate the students interest and imagination.
Crosshill School is a special school for students aged 11 to 16 year old with moderate learning difficulties. Many of the students have additional emotional and behavioural issues. The school is located in its own school base with BCHS High School. Crosshill has the use of shared facilities including sports hall, dance studio, science labs, food technology rooms and vocational rooms. Crosshill is funded for 60 students and BCHS is funded for 900 students.
At Crosshill we pride ourselves in being special. Special in the way we make sure all our students are taught according to their own particular needs. Special in the excellent progress the students make in their learning and special in the way we support and care for them as they move from school into adulthood. Our students leave us confident, caring and qualified to meet the challenges that face them. The unique environment that we have created within a mainstream high school means our students can feel part of a bigger school whilst continuing to enjoy the security a smaller, more intimate "school within a school" and our high staff to student ratios mean that every student receives individual help and support. This "family" feel of the school is vital to our success and lies at the heart of all we do, of that we are all proud.
