The Curry Stone Foundation is the brainchild of architect, urban planner and developer Cliff Curry, FAIA and the historical archeologist Dr. Delight Stone, RPA. Founded in 2007, its mission is to inspire and empower community driven social design. To this end, it supports individuals and groups using design to build healthier, more vital communities. It also actively seeks to inspire others to consider design as a tool for social change, especially in marginalized communities. The Foundation’s primary areas of interest are shelter, community building, health care, environmental issues, education, and peace. Inherent to all it does is the belief that design should be accessible to all, including those in the greatest need.
Through the prize, we seek to highlight, honor, and reward projects that improve daily living conditions for communities around the world. Awarded projects may improve the human spirit, increase awareness of the environment, provide shelter and clean water, or address the impacts of climate change or humanitarian crises. We value work that is considered emerging in the professional and public consciousness.
