|About||Cynthiana Main Street (CMS) is a non-profit, community-based volunteer organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Cynthiana, Kentucky.|
|Mission||The mission of the Cynthiana Main Street program is to help revitalize our downtown. It is our aim to stimulate economic development and investment in downtown by encouraging cooperation and building leadership in our local business community. It is our goal to promote a positive image of our downtown by advocating and supporting its unique and distinct qualities as a great place to live, work, shop, and invest in.|
Cynthiana Main Street's purpose, put simply, is to restore and secure the economic vitality and aesthetic quality of Cynthiana's downtown. We want to make our existing businesses stronger and have the ability to bring in new businesses that our community needs, while also being an advocate for historical preservation and working to beautify our downtown for Cynthianians and visitors alike.
CMS resides under the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Kentucky Main Street program (housed within the Kentucky Heritage Council) and is required to uphold the NTHP National Main Street four-point approach:
Organization: Concentrating on the structure of the program, the Organization Committee manages our fundraising, membership, and volunteers, building consensus and cooperation between all involved in Cynthiana Main Street.
Promotion: Through publicity, marketing, and events, our Promotion Committee ensures that downtown Cynthiana is a lively and enjoyable place to be.
Design: The streetscape, building restoration, and façade grants are some of the visual opportunities the Design Committee utilizes and assists to improve Cynthiana's downtown.
Economic Restructuring: Working with city government to create occupational incentives, assisting new business owners in their endeavors, and bringing new commerce to Cynthiana's downtown district are all tasks focused on by the E/R Committee.
Cynthiana Main Street is organized with a board of directors, one manager, four committees, and numerous volunteers. Our board consists of thirteen (13) members; individuals who are pillars within our community, many owning businesses and properties located downtown.
