Bio – Dan Hetfield
You won’t find many musicians as versatile as Dan Hetfield. Dan has left his mark on the Tameside music scene for over 10 years as a singer, guitarist and songwriter as well as a skilled and experienced sound engineer and producer. More recently he has ventured into the busking scene which even earned him praise in the national media – from the Daily Mirror to the Telegraph - when his passionate performance of Stand By Me with none other than Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn at an Ashton Market election rally went viral.
Dan’s strong and soulful voice has earned him comparisons with Paul Weller and his eclectic set ranges from aforementioned to James, Outcast, Jeff Buckley and Sam Cook, catering for all kinds of musical tastes. A skilled lead and rhythm guitarist, Dan’s performances never fail to engage an audience due to his energetic and heartfelt interpretation of the songs and artists he loves. And don’t be surprised if the set suddenly ventures into freestyle or beatboxing as Dan is also an accomplished rapper. His lyrics explore our times of local and global connections and dependencies and where this leaves the individual with all his hopes and fears. Musically Dan doesn’t believe in genre limitations: His songs explore the boundaries between Rock, Soul, Indie, Hip-Hop and electronic music because according to Dan ‘If you look hard enough you find something good in every style.’
As a Sound Engineer, Dan can draw on an impressive track record working with artists such as Inspiral Carpets, Tom Hingely and the Specials. Most recently he recorded local artist Nina Gerstenberger’s single Internal Shelter Area which received praise and radio play all around Manchester.
