Fostering comprehensive understanding and multidisciplinary study of Russia and the countries of Eurasia.
To generate and disseminate original research and scholarship on Russian and Eurasian studies; to promote the training of graduate and undergraduate students interested in the region; to create and sustain a community of scholars at all levels of academic achievement; and to ensure that society at large benefits from the exchange of information and ideas at the Davis Center.
The Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies is Harvard University’s center for interdisciplinary research and study of Russia and the countries surrounding it. We have over 200 affiliates working in disciplines ranging from anthropology to sociology, and whose regional interests span virtually all of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
We believe that fascinating interdisciplinary insights emerge when a diverse group of individual scholars, each of whom is well trained in a single discipline, interact on topics related to a common theme or geographic region. Our goal is to foster these scholars’ development and to stimulate interdisciplinary thinking by creating opportunities for them to meet and exchange views.
