The Derby BBQ Festival is held in September at scenic High Park. The event features a competitive and backyard contest, live music, kid's activities and more.
Encourage people throughout Kansas and Oklahoma to visit Derby, Kan. and enjoy High Park.
Make plans now to attend this fun fall event for the whole family. Kick off the BBQ Festival on Friday Sept. 8 from 6-9 p.m. with live music, a Kids Q competition and Police vs. Fire hot dog eating contest. Attend the main event on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at High Park, 2801 James St. in Derby, KS.
At the heart of the Derby BBQ Festival is the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) Cook-off where up to 40 pro teams vie for $11,500 in prizes, and a chance to compete at the American Royale World Series of Barbeque in October.
We will also host the Fidelity Bank Backyard BBQ Cook-off, for aspiring pit masters and an "Anything On A Stick" competition.
And, just ‘cause we also like to eat barbeque, our People’s Choice Cook-off will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This gives the public an opportunity to sample competition-quality pulled pork for just $5. Still hungry, there will be plenty of other food vendors to satisfy all of your festival cravings.
In addition to contests and barbeque eating, there will be live music and the kids corner will offer a variety of free entertainment including a petting zoo, inflatables, a magician, face painting and more.
Car enthusiasts will also love Bumper to Bumper’s Fifth Annual Rods and Ribs Charity Car Show. A low-cost entry fee lets you show off your ride. Or, just take a stroll thru time and pick out your favorites.
