|About||Diaper Drop Charities is a diaper bank in Charleston, WV that distributes diapers throughout the Kanawha Valley to families who are most in need.|
|Mission||Diaper Drop's mission is to make a difference by helping parents and babies enjoy healthier development during their earliest years. Together, we can help families raise happier, healthier babies.|
Diaper Drop's goal is to help families raise happier, healthier babies one clean diaper at a time.
The need for clean diapers is constant and the struggle to purchase them is real. Approximately 27% of West Virginia children live in poverty and have an inadequate supply of clean diapers. Not only are diapers expensive, but they are also not covered by food stamps or WIC. Many low-income families are forced to forgo an adequate supply of diapers for other basic essentials.
Dirty diapers and infrequent diaper changes cause serious health concerns including: severe diaper rash, urinary tract infection, jaundice, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, irritability, renal failure, or bacterial infection.
Additionally, without a clean supply of diapers, children cannot attend daycare. This has two major implications: first, the child misses out on essential early enrichment and social development; and, second, the parent cannot go to work to help provide for the family, making the poverty cycle that much harder to escape.
Every donation is important and helps us work toward our goal, so please consider a donation of any type and quantity of disposable diapers or a monetary donation. An easy way to get started is to add diapers to your monthly shopping list. You can also sponsor a baby for a month for $100, or a child's full diaper supply for $2,500. There is no donation too small - or too large!
