I Rory Bourke, have always been on and off with my fitness. I played rugby league for 10 years as a kid and then found a new love for boxing. In 2010, I bulged 2 disks in my back at work which caused my sciatic nerve to get pinched and trapped. This is when my life turned really dark. My life revolved around being in absolute agony 24/7, trips back and forward to the doctors, specialists and physio weekly. I was not able to play footy with the boys or do the things I was once able to do. I stayed home and isolated myself from the world. I was suffering from server depression and was on all sorts of heavy medication that the doctors had prescribed me. I then joined a gym. It was hard at first, trying to ignore the pain. I didn't want people knowing I was in pain as time and time again I would get a lecture that I shouldn't be training. I kept my mind strong and kept pushing through. Soon enough I was hooked on training and the way it made me feel, nothing could stop me. Day by day I got stronger, the pain started to vanish, I got more mobility, more energy and suddenly life wasn't all bad. It wasn't easy to bring myself to that state of mind as I was still on heavy medication and still quite depressed. The only thing that could make me happ
