THE DEPARTMENT OF TURKISH AND MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS INVITES YOU TO THE EVENT, "TALKING ABOUT FACT AND FICTION WITH ZÜLFÜ LIVANELI"
Zülfü Livaneli, Turkish composer, film director and writer, is well known to a large international audience through his musical, cinematographic and literary works of which many have been award winning. He is also known as a passionate human rights activist and politician, who founded together with Mikis Theodorakis the Committee for Turkish-Greek Friendship in 1986 and has been a UNESCO advisor and ambassador for many years. In his literary works, he reflects on the history and present state of modern Turkey, picking up controversial themes such as cultural pluralism and human rights. This evening will give us the opportunity to meet Livaneli and ask him questions – about his literary works, his music, his films, his ideas on matters related to Turkey and the world.
