The Joseph Brodsky Fellowship Fund is proud to announce the inaugural event of our Brodsky Poetry Series: a series of poetry readings by leading Russian poets.

Demyan Kudryavtsev was born in St. Petesburg. He immigrated to Israel in 1990 and then returned to Russia in 1995, becoming one of its best known newspaper publishers. He is a board member of Vedomosti and Moscow Times publishing house. In the past Demyan managed Kommersant and Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

While Demyan's name is most known to public as a publisher, he has always maintained interest in poetry as well as edited literary journals. His first book of poetry came out in 1991. His last book of poetry «Гражданская лирика» was published in 2013 with a foreword by Brodsky Fellow Maria Stepanova.

In 2008 his first novel “Близнецы” (Twins) was shortlisted for the Andrey Bely Prize and long listed for Russia's “National Bestseller” prize.

Demyan will read his poetry and questions during this rare appearance in New York.

This event is hosted by Verus Real Estate.

Your ticket purchase will go towards supporting the mission of the Joseph Brodsky Fellowship Fund to provide Russian artists and writers with an unconstrained opportunity to create in a stimulating, international cultural environment.
