This event will include a lecture on Sen no Rikyuu's Seven Laws of Tea, as well as demonstrations of the two styles of matcha preparation - usucha ("thin tea") and koicha ("thick tea").
11 AM - 11:45 AM: Sen no Rikyuu's Seven Laws of Tea
11:45 AM - 12 PM: Intermission
12 PM - 12:30 PM Usucha Demonstration
12:30 PM - 1 PM: Intermission
1 PM -2 PM: Koicha Demonstration

We would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Keiko Kitazawa, our visiting tea master for April. Mrs. Kitazawa has trained in Omotesenke-style tea ceremony for nearly 20 years, and teaches Omotesenke-style tea ceremony in New York City as well as in her own tearoom in New Jersey. For the past 8 years, she has been instrumental in the operation of Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region, USA, which coordinates Omotesenke instructors across the entire eastern United States.
