The Arts Extravaganza Exhibition will be held in conjunction with the 7DE 85th Anniversary celebration on May 22, 7-8 pm.
The theme for this years Arts Extravaganza is "I never lose. I either win or learn." --Nelson Mandela
There are five art categories including: Visual, Auditory, Performing, Literary and Photography.
The Arts Submission DEADLINE is April 16!!
Theme:“I never lose. I either win or learn.” -
*Submit all works of art to the Main Office along with the completed Student Entry Form.Student Name should be placed on the backside of all entries.
Visual arts: A visual arts entry must be an original print, drawing, painting, collage, etching punch work, fiber work, or sculpture that relates to the theme. Works may be framed or un- framed, and works can be any size or shape. Be sure to label artwork on the back side or underside with artist’s name.
Performing arts: A dance, dramatic skit, gymnastics routine, or other choreography must be an original work recorded on a flashdrive. The composition is not to exceed five minutes. The work
must be of one student and must demonstrate creativity and interpretation of the theme. Performance accompaniment is permissible, but the artist must be centrally featured. Costumes, props, and/or musical accompaniment are optional. Be sure to label the flashdrive with artist’s name.
Auditory arts: A music composition entry may be for voice, instruments, or a combination of voice and instruments. Lyrics may or may not be included in vocal compositions. The composition is not to exceed five minutes. The entry must relate to the theme. The composition must be submitted on a flashdrive. Accompaniment is permissible, but the artist must be centrally featured. If the music is borrowed from copyrighted material, the original artist must be noted. Be sure to label the flashdrive with the artist’s name.
Photography: Each photograph must be submitted separately and individual collections, whether in a bound format or not, are not permissible. A student may also submit a collage or photomontage
as a single, cohesive, two-dimensional piece (judged as one entry). Whether an entry uses a variety of techniques or a simple approach, it will be judged primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme. Photographic entries must be printed. Be sure to label the backside of entry with artist’s
Literature: A literature entry may be a work of fiction or nonfiction. Prose, poetry, and drama are all accepted. The entry must relate to the theme. Literature entrants are not to borrow from copyrighted material. The artist may include illustrations, but the submiss
ion will only be judged as related to literature. Whether an entry uses a variety of techniques or a simple approach, it will be judged primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme. Be sure to label entry with artist's name on the backside.
