Face life's daily challenges with balance, compassion and grace.
Mindfulness is a broad term encompassing the development of acute present-moment awareness. Through observing the integration of breath, mind, body, and environment, we are able to generate a greater degree of presence in our lives. This presence enables us to break out of habitual responses and act with more clarity and deeper insight.
This seminar will highlight the two fundamental components of mindfulness: Concentration and Equanimity.
Participants will use the breath and other senses as the objects of attention to help reign in the wandering mind and develop better concentration.
To cultivate equanimity, techniques will be introduced to expand awareness beyond the breath to the fluctuating sensations of the body as it is influenced by both our thoughts and the external world.
Through directly experiencing the impermanent nature of these sensations, we begin to cultivate a deep sense of equanimity that allows us to face life's daily challenges with balance, compassion and grace.
The seminar will be comprised of learning the meditative techniques, a group practice, and a question and answer period.
