“Shadowboxing”, is a two person exhibition featuring new works from Cameron Granger and Tyler Davis. Using lens and print based techniques the artists explore the effects of forced behaviors and cultural structures imposed within their communities through various forms of media and other societal pressures. Through personal anecdotes and experiences that speak to the world at large, the artists use the micro to speak on the macro. Fumbling in the dark against an enemy unseen, the duo confront the monster underneath their beds. A shapeless villain, passed down from generation to generation. The shadow beneath their feet, stretching out from under the sun to reach up to grip at their neck.

Cameron Granger is an award winning filmmaker and video artist currently based in Columbus, Ohio. Born & raised in Cleveland, OH, Cameron grew up with his mother, Sandra, from whom he inherited an intense love of rap and soul music, and a dire desire to live in a Hype Williams video. His recent work revolves around notions of blackness as they relate to the 'American Dream', representation in film and media, and effects on one's self and community. Cameron is a founding member of MINT, a Columbus based art collective and project/gallery space and a 2017 resident artist at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. His work has screened and been exhibited in galleries and festivals both nationally and internationally.

Tyler Davis lives and works in Columbus, OH. He will receive his BFA in Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art and Design in May of 2018. Tyler is a member of Corrugate Contemporary, and MINT Collective. One of the three founders of SPAM Collective working on their sixth zine release/exhibition early 2018.
